A fitting name to bestowed upon such a high performance Porsche Killer. During the War, the Hurricane was responsible for more confirmed kills of German Aircraft than any other aircraft combined within its first year of production! In that first year, the Germans lost over 1500 airplanes to the pilots of Hurricanes.
In the late 20th and early 21st Century, times have changed. The Viper is responsible for more confirmed kills against Porsche drivers worldwide. Never has there been such a domination at Le Mans in Europe or the American LeMans Series,as the Viper. So aptly named is this 1997 Viper GTS, "The Hurricane."
This 1997 Viper GTS is unique as it is the only Production based, street driven Viper in the world to achieve a
10.41@142.8 mph pass in the quarter mile on a production based radial street tire. The level of performance here has demonstrated that a production car does not need to lose its ability to be a comfortable daily driver in order to compete with the fastest cars in the world.
Another feat which was accomplished earlier this year was this Viper attained a top speed of 208.6 miles per
hour as recorded by a GPS mounted within the car. This accomplishment was documented by magazines worldwide as the fastest speed any street legal Viper had ever reached outside a closed racing course without special modifications for such speeds.
